Poker books may be one of the most overlooked and underutilized poker player resources. Sure, there is a wealth of information online today; but, nothing can replace the information and knowledge found in some of the best poker books ever printed, written by some of the best poker professionals to ever play the game.
Consider Dan Harrington’s three-volume series, “Harrington on Hold ‘em”. One of the sharpest minds to ever sit at a Texas Holdem tournament table provides the definitive resource for Hold ‘em tournament strategy in these 3 must-read poker books.
Then there’s “The Theory of Poker”, written by David Sklansky, one of the best analytical minds to ever play the game. When the title of this book says, “A Professional Poker Player Teaches You How to Think Like One”, it’s not just literary hyperbole. Sklansky’s book is studied and re-studied by professional poker players – that should tell you something about its importance.
Of course, no discussion of the best poker books would be complete without mention of Doyle Brunson’s “Super System”, considered by many to be the best poker book ever written. This is a classic volume, with a wealth of information and knowledge provided, not just by Brunson, but by names such as Sklansky, Caro, Reese and others as well.
So, don’t overlook the importance of reading and studying some of the best poker books ever published. There’s simply no better way to get inside the minds of some of the most successful poker pros to ever sit down at the felt.
