Ziigmund up, Ivey and Antonius down at High-stakes Poker Tables

Last week saw some interesting changes among the high-stakes poker players, with several trends switching directions and players making big moves. For the week, Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and Gus Hansen were among the big winners, while Team Full Tilt players Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius both took big hits.
With familiar names like “deprimiert”, “durrrr” and “URnotINdanger2” popping up on the list of winners, it was Ziigmund that made the biggest move. In the negative for much of the year, his $990,000 upswing for the week brought the Finnish player back into the plus. Tom “durrrr” Dwan’s $270K increase pushed him over $4 million for the year, while Gus Hansen’s $305,056 helped to slow the bleeding in what has been a terrible another year for the Danish pro.
After working to overcome a nearly $4 million deficit from early in the year, Antonius gave it back last week by losing a whopping $1.3 million, once again putting him in the minus for 2010. Brian Townsend also continued to bleed money, losing another $400K and pushing his losses for the year over $2.5 million.
Ivey had a rough week as well. Logging around 9,000 hands, the “Tiger Woods of Poker” gave back nearly $1.2 million. In spite of the loss, Ivey is still in fourth place in year-to-date winnings, with over $2.1 million to show for his efforts.
With the tournament poker scene being a little slow, high-stakes online poker has been heating up, with some of the world’s best players logging many hours at the tables. Some are down, some are up, but the action is always exciting when these players get busy.
