Poker Hall Of FameThe fans of poker have spoken, and the list of nominees for the game’s biggest honor has been set, with the final list of 10 players being announced. With the first phase of the process complete, current Hall of Fame members and the media panel will soon choose the 38th and 39th members of poker’s royalty.

With fan voting concluding on August 31st, the list of nominated players was reviewed by the Poker Hall of Fame committee and amended based on its guidelines. Those guidelines were:

  • Players must have played poker against recognized top competition
  • They must have played for high stakes
  • They must have consistently played well and gained the respect of their peers
  • They must have maintained the previous criteria for a prolonged period of time

With those guidelines in mind, the committee has presented ten candidates:

All of the nominees are World Series of Poker bracelet winners, and each has built a strong poker resume. Some insiders point to Ivey and Seidel, both with 8 bracelets, as the likely choices since they are the only members of the top 6 all-time WSOP bracelet winners list that are not in the Hall. With 5 bracelets and many contributions to the game, Chris Ferguson would also be considered a strong possibility to gain entrance.

The top two vote-getters will receive entrance into the Poker Hall of Fame by garnering a simple majority. Regardless of who is selected, poker’s ultimate destination is on the verge of receiving two new and very deserving members.
