London – August 6, 2007. The World Series of Poker Europe is only a month away and many of the world’s top players have already submitted their entry fees. Those registered for the inaugural WSOPE include Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, Eric Seidel, Eli Elezra, Gus Hanson, Jennifer Harman, Allen Cunningham, Howard Lederer and Jamie Gold have already committed to playing. Many other pro’s have given verbal commitments for the event, to be played primarily at the new Empire in Leicester Square.
“We’re thrilled that so many of the game’s biggest names will participate in the World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair.com” said commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. “We fully expect World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair.com to become Europe’s preeminent poker tournament. The early sign ups and limited venue size means that each field will have limited capacity. If players want to play in these inaugural events alongside the best players in the world, I encourage them to pre-register well in advance to solidify their seat.”
The inaugural WSOP Europe begins September 6 with a three-day, £2,500 HORSE event at The Casino at The Empire, LCI’s newest casino in Leicester Square. The Empire will also be the host casino for a two-day, £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament starting September 8. On September 10, the WSOP Europe Main Event – a six-day, £10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold’Em Championship – will begin at The Empire, The Sportsman and Fifty. The playing field will be consolidated beginning September 13 at The Empire.
