PokerStars 2010 World Championship Of Online PokerWhen announcing the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker, (WCOOP) the website says it very simply; “In this year’s series there’s a guaranteed combined prize pool of $50,000,000 and you can qualify for as little as $1. Legends of the game will be made, fortunes won, and you can be part of it.” This opportunity to be a legend and win millions is only days away, as the latest installment of the PokerStars WCOOP gets ready to begin.

Coming on the heels of the extremely successful PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker last May, the WCOOP will be the biggest tournament ever held at the online poker room. The WCOOP will feature 62 tournaments and $50 million in guaranteed prize money, all spread out over three weeks of great poker action.

PokerStars pro Joe Cada, the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event winner, accurately describes the WCOOP when he says, “the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker continues to be the pinnacle in online tournaments.” Referring to the event as “the World Series of the online world”, Cada is just one of many pros that look to add to their resumes, and bankrolls over the next three weeks.

Because so many pros play, the WCOOP is unique. As PokerStars pro Thierry van den Berg says, “That’s the beauty of the WCOOP; pros and amateurs competing together to win the biggest prizes in online poker. The first prize is often more than $100,000 and sometimes more than a $250,000.”

Pros and amateurs battling on the same virtual felt; it all starts on Friday, September 5th with the $215 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Six-Max tournament. This exciting tournament will carry a $1.25 million guarantee, one of 17 events with prize pools of over $1 million, including the incredible Main Event which features $10 million in guaranteed money. Players can buy their way into various events, or go to PokerStars and look for satellites and “qualify for as little as $1.” Right now, all eyes are on PokerStars as the WCOOP gets underway.
