Ring in the New Year with a PokerStars Reload Bonus For a limited time online poker mega-site PokerStars is offering a 25% reload bonus. But players need to hurry because the offer is only good until 23:59 ET on January 10, 2010. Make a deposit of any amount by that date and if you choose you can  then make two more deposits within 60 days so that you can qualify for as much bonus as possible. The maximum for this bonus is $150, and that would require a total deposit of $600. Players then have 90 days to clear the bonus.

PokerStars is the dominant force on the Internet and is currently closing in on controlling a whopping 40% of the market, something that hasn’t occurred since PartyPoker accomplished it in 2004 and again 2005, back in the days when PartyPoker was the major player in the market.

PokerStars also recently reworked their VIP program. Tournament players can now accumulate VIP Player Points (VPPs) faster than ever before, with micro-stakes players being included through the VIP Stellar Rewards category, where the first $10 reward comes at just 750 yearly VPPs.

Players automatically become a PokerStars VIP  by playing their first real money poker hand. You then earn points that you play which determines your VIP level, so the more you play the more you can earn. To further reward members, each quarter this program also holds million-dollar freerolls.

Speaking of freerolls, PokerStars is also holding a Meet WSOP Champion Joe Cada promotion this month and next. Play in any or all of the daily freerolls from January 6th thru February 12th, in which the top 45 players win Weekly Final seats. The Weekly Finals each award 18 seats to the Grand Final. The prize package includes flights from any major US airport, five-nights accommodation, a day with Joe Cada, $1,000 spending money and a seat at a live PokerStars event.

Under way this week is the seventh annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.  This legendary event,  held at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas, has morphed into a gigantic poker festival featuring 50 live events over 12 days, the crown of which is the $10,300 buy-in Main Event. Last year’s winner Poorya Nazari, who qualified through a $33 triple chance satellite, took home the $3,000,000 top prize for outlasting some 1,347 players.

Among the more interesting and innovative of the tournament offerings is something called Battleship Multi Heads Up Challenge. Players on laptops sit face to face, like the Battleship board game, and compete heads up.

Despite large numbers of poker players traveling to the PCA, which got underway this week, the first Sunday Million of the new year had 8,900 registrants with $254,184.00 going to uyra99, who pushed aside challenger latouche83 with a strong final hand of two pair, aces and threes.
