PokerStars, the Godzilla of online poker has just announced the launch of a poker tour for North American poker players, aptly named the North American Poker Tour (NAPT). The first stop will be incorporated into the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, with future stops at the Venetian in Las Vegas in February, and the Mohegan Sun in April. Expect more dates to be announced in the coming months.
Joanna Krupa, hot poker playing chick best known for Dancing with the Stars fame, will be the broadcast host for the NAPT, which is rumored will be shown on cable sports network ESPN and produced by the same company responsible for the WSOPÂ telecasts.
PokerStars’ global events head Jeffrey Haas said in a press conference that the tour was created at the request of North American poker players from as far north as Alaska to as far south as Puerto Vallarta, requesting that PokerStars get involved in producing series of events of the highest caliber possible.
The NAPT event at the Venetian will be held February 20th thru the 24th with a $5,000 buy-in Main Event and will include a wide range of smaller tourneys with the accent on diversity and amusement. The NAPT event at the Mohegan Sun will be held April 7th thru the 11th to coincide with another inaugural poker festival to be held at the resort. It will also feature a $5,000 Main Event and lots of side tourney action.
Stay tuned for announcements as to how you can win your way into these events through qualifiers at PokerStars.
