Getting to Know Bet365 Pro Jesper HougaardTweet Share
Among the up and coming players on the professional poker circuit, Bet365 pro Jesper Hougaard has already begun to make a name for himself representing Bet365. Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark, Hougaard was born in 1984 and has already won two World Series of Poker bracelets, with career earnings of over $1 million.
Before becoming a player with Team Bet365, Hougaard was a member of the Dutch National Table Tennis Team, a sign of the versatility that the young pro possesses. After deciding to move forward with a career in poker, Hougaard became the co-founder of the Danish department of Donkr.com, an international poker community.
Known as “Kipster”, Hougaard is Dutch, but lived for many years in England, where his father was a NATO officer stationed in the country. A popular addition to the Bet365 lineup, Hougaard has been featured this month in Bet365 promotions, giving online poker players at the site a chance to meet and beat the pro.
Hougaard exploded onto the World Series of Poker scene in 2008 when he claimed his first bracelet in a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament in Las Vegas. His second win came in a £1,500 No Limit Hold’em event at the second World Series of Poker Europe in London. These two wins made him the first to ever take bracelets in both Vegas and London.
Through 2009, Hougaard has earned nearly $1.3 million in live events, with nearly $1 million of that coming from the World Series of Poker, where he has 8 cashes. His best finish so far in the Main Event was a 356th place finish at the 2007 tournament. Among his other victories, Hougaard took home $147,000 for the Sunday Million on PokerStars in April 2008.
Jesper Hougaard has come a long way from his days as a player and coach for the Dutch National Table Tennis team. As a popular pro at Bet365, “Kipster” appears ready to continue his success on the felt for years to come.
