England’s Trickett Take PartyPoker World Open VI in LondonTweet Share
England’s Sam Trickett defended the honor of the mother country last week by taking the PartyPoker World Open VI at the Palm Beach Casino in Mayfair, London. Picking up the top prize of $200,000 Trickett added another high point in what has become a stellar 2010 for the United Kingdom.
For his part, the World Open VI is simply the latest accomplishment on the Titan Poker pro’s resume. He had six cashes at the 2010 World Series of Poker for almost $700k, including one-final table and a seventh place finish in the $25k Six-Max event. He followed up his WSOP performance with a 4th place finish at the World Poker Tour Vilamoura Main Event.
The World Open VI was held in an exciting shootout format; seven preliminary rounds featured many of today’s top players, with the winner of each round going on to the final. The final table featured Trickett, fellow Brit Toby Lewis, Dale Hoy, Juha Helppi, Andrew Robl, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and John Duthie.
His PartyPoker World Open VI simply adds to his growing reputation; Hall of Fame player Mike Sexton commented of Trickett, “He’s one helluva player, and you’ll be hearing a lot more of Sam Trickett, I can promise you that.” The final table results and payouts were:
1. Sam Trickett — $200,000
2. Yevgeniy Timoshenko — $110,000
3. Toby Lewis — $75,000
4. Juha Helppi — $35,000
5. John Duthie — $25,000
6. Andrew Robl — $20,000
7. Dale Hoy — $15,000
Trickett now has career earnings of more than $1.7 million. With the World Series of Poker Europe quickly approaching, the other players should be wary of Sam “Tricky” Trickett.
