Everything goes better when it gets off to a good start; this has certainly been true of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series XVII. Twelve of the 34 scheduled events are already in the books and the poker action has been great, the crowds large and the payouts have been impressive. Full Tilt pro Huck Seed hosted the kickoff event, the August 4th $200+$16 No Limit Hold’em tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $750,000. An incredible 4,591 players joined Seed, pushing the payout to an amazing $918,200 and awarding winner “Broberts85” a healthy $164,357.80 and a golden jersey for his efforts. Since then, only three events have failed to reach at least 1,000 players, (H.O.R.S.E., Stud/8 and Pot Limit Omaha 6-Max) while the Lacey Jones hosted $120+$9 No Limit Hold’em Knockout event held on Sunday, August 8th fielded an incredible 8,861 players. This tournament saw its $800,000 guarantee exceeded, as the purse rose to $886,100; winner “FM2T” grabbed the golden jersey and a fat check of $141,776.00 for the victory. In all, the average field so far for the FTOPS XVII has been about 2,000 players, with some of Full Tilt’s finest hosting the events. In addition to Jones and Seed, other tournaments have been hosted by Erica Schoenberg, Aaron Bartley and Svetlana Gromenkova. Erik Seidel and Chris “Jesus” Ferguson are both scheduled to host events in the upcoming week, with a mystery host has yet to be announced for the Main Event. The best way to make anything successful is to get out to a good start, and Full Tilt Poker has definitely accomplished that with the FTOPS XVII. The poker action will continue to be hot this week, as players look to win big and grab one of those famous golden jerseys during this enjoyable series.
