This week, UB and Absolute Poker announced the winners of their recent Table Skin Design Competition. The purpose of the event was to not only get a new look for the online poker rooms, but to make it possible, as the sites declared, for “the World of Design [to] Meet Online Poker.” The winners of the contest were “PATATTACK333” for UB and “JUSTIN749” for Absolute Poker.
The winning skin design at each site will be featured for players to use. For their winning efforts, each of the designers receives a VIP travel package to Las Vegas for the WSOP and $1,000 in cash. The VIP package includes airfare for two to Las Vegas, 4 nights’ accommodations and a spot on the guest list for UB’s exclusive VIP party on the 33rd floor of the Mandarin Hotel.
PATATTACK333’s skin design for UB was appropriately named “Spaceship”, giving a glimpse of what poker might look like in the future. JUSTIN749’s approach for Absolute drew on the past, taking inspiration from the masterpieces of artist Michelangelo.
JUSTIN749 was excited to have his design selected, saying, “I am very proud to have something I worked on get recognized by Absolute and honored to have my skin on the site for everyone to use if they wish. Thanks to Absolute Poker for having great promotions that are like no other, and now I am really pumped to go to Vegas to represent AP.”
While beauty is only skin deep, the work to make a beautiful skin for a website can be extensive. This contest required designers to not only be creative, but to respect the brand logos, provide a visual that players would enjoy, and make a look that could be used in any game format.
The Table Skin Design Contest was an excellent challenge for graphic designers, as their designs were required to not only be creative, but also respectful of the brands’ logos, enjoyable for poker players, and flexible enough to be used on all table formats. PATATTACK333 and JUSTIN749 did just that, beating out their competition and earning a place at UB and Absolute in the process.
