Exciting poker action like the recent World Team Poker event should be available for fans to see; thanks to an agreement between the WTP and Fox Sports Net, viewers will get a chance to enjoy this battle for poker supremacy and national pride.

The first event of its kind, the WTP was held at the Golden Nugget Casino on May 19th. Fox will show a lead-in broadcast on July 14th, and then the event will be broken up over one-hour segments that will be aired on Sunday nights, starting this September.

This $50,000 buy-in tournament featured eight teams hailing from Australia, Brazil, China, England, Greece, Israel, Vietnam, and the United States. It was configured in a shootout setting, with the last two players from each shootout competing in a final table contest. The games included Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Hold’em. A unique feature was the ability of each team captain to appropriate the teams chip stack as he saw fit, and also to substitute players during the events to maximize the team’s ability.

The announcement of this event being televised comes immediately after the successful conclusion of the broadcasts of the 2010 Heads-Up Championship by NBC. With the live audiences and such technological innovations as card cameras and hand percentage calculators, the game is very appealing to a television audience.

Poker has become an attractive programming option for the television networks, and Fox Sports Net has demonstrated that fact by agreeing to broadcast the 2010 World Team Poker event. Fans of poker should make sure to catch the broadcasts to see how their favorite country fared in the event.
