Annette Obrestad Heads Sunday Poker WinnersTweet Share
Some familiar names made their marks on the online poker tournament tables yesterday as a typical busy day of tournament poker took place. Headlined by Annette Obrestad’s victory in the PokerStars Sunday 500, several well-known players walked away with nice paydays in some exciting Sunday poker.
Straying away from her new home at Full Tilt Poker, Obrestad crossed over to play in one of PokerStars big events, the Sunday 500. This tournament had a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000, and the field nearly covered the money without an overlay. Pro players Joe Serock, Christian Harder and Harrison Gimbel joined Obrestad at the final table, but the young Norwegian prevailed and walked off with the $87,400 check for first place.
The big winner for the day also triumphed at PokerStars. Zwuerbs took down the victory and the bigger portion of a chop with “10IsTheYear” in the PokerStars Sunday Million. The two faced off after battling through a crowd of 8,120 runners, with zweurbs earning $230,852.32 and 10IsTheYear snagging a very nice $191,387.68 for second place.
The “Kirbynator” continued a strong personal run with a win at the Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee, netting a strong $132,000. Kirbynator won last month’s FTOPS XVI Main Event and grabbed a victory in the PokerStars SCOOP as well. Yesterday’s victory was a repeat performance for the online pro, who also won the same event last October.
All in all, Sunday has a reputation for its tournament action, and yesterday did not disappoint. While the pros scooped up their shares of the pots, other players had some great paydays as well, showing why Sunday is a great day to hit the felt.
